my buggy and tacoma
i traded my truck for this buggy. It has good drivetrain, but comsmetics are lacking. My dad is supposed to be getting me some old signs so i can skin it and do all that stuff. I will repaint it also, pobably bright red or orange The buggy also was built by a guy that was 6'3 so i have to redo the seat/pedals
22re, w56, duals 21spline input 23spline bobby long output, 4.7 in rear case.
dana 60 front 35spline throughout 4.88's with longfield driveflanges full hydro
dana 70 rear 35 spline,discs
dual tri four link set up for 18's front and rear, but i am gonna put 16's on the front because it only has a couple inch up with the 18's
front and rear suckdown winches
he wanted to keep his tires so it has my old 42's on it
here's what the buggy was built after
http://www.azrockcrawler.com/ go to chassis plans its the "hellraiser 4"
my plans
weld on tabs everywhere so i can skin it
ditch the expanded metal floors and put in real floors
repaint and new skins
raise the seats so i don't look like a 10yr old driving
build or modify a hood for it
replace the front lights with 4 4" hids
in the pics it doesn't have any shocks on it so thats why its saggin in the rear

Re: my buggy and tacoma
ya the chassis is a 4 seat chassis. It is just set with 2 seats right now. Its cool because i can run it as a two seat with lots of storage and when needed i will be able to add more seat when we start having kidsBIG BLING wrote:looks nice man good job bro. alot more room?

Re: my buggy and tacoma
the buggy came from socal, so he didn't need floors or skins. I do so i started on that today. He had a little piece of expanded metal where your feet were and a small strip next to the trans and the piece on the doors. I cut the expanded out and pieced in metal in all the holes. I also started building a trans tunnel. It will get metal sides with a piece of aluminum polished and swirled on the top. I also picked up a can of red spray paint to see what it would look like red. Pretty sure it will be red with aluminum skins

Re: my buggy and tacoma
got the floors and most of the tunnel done. I need to go get some sheet metal. I had been using some panel covers i had laying around, but i don't have any left. My truck goes in the shop tomorrow and gets the passenger side repainted, new rear axle, new wheel, new bumper, and new running board. when i get it back next week i hopefully should be able to go get my aluminum for the skins from my dad

Re: my buggy and tacoma
thanks chris, we are both in the same boat. I need extra money to buy some coilover or airshocks and you need some extra money to get your chassis. I should be able to get it all cosmetically done for pretty cheap though. I want to eventually get some sticky tires also which are spendy

Re: my buggy and tacoma
Go with coilovers. Airshox are to sensitive to a loaded rig vs. an unloaded rig.

Re: my buggy and tacoma
ya i have seen the ori's. I have not priced them, but i heard they are expensive. I know they have around a 16 week lead time right. I'll probably just try to get some used airshocks for now and then upgrade them later when we are working more

Re: my buggy and tacoma
yeah, there is a 3 month lead time on them. i understand they are priced between air's and a complete coil over, but not 100% sure.. What length are you shootin for in air's?

Re: my buggy and tacoma
i need a set of 16's and a set of 18's. he had 18's on all four, but he said that it would work better with 16's in the front. He said with the 18's he only had a couple inches of up travel

Re: my buggy and tacoma
If you can afford the ORIs, get them. There are very easy to adjust and they have advance valving for side hilling. Buddy has a set and they work very nice, worst case get a set of coil overs.

Re: my buggy and tacoma
If you do get the airs, you will need an anti-rock or sway bay of some sort.. It will lean sidin or under accelleration. Coil overs and the ORI's don't...
