Re: 3.0 killer
You aren't kidding. Feels like its taking forever
Oh well, should be done soon. I'm just glad that neither axle really needed a lot of work. The bearings in both axles were in good shape, so I'm reusing them. I'll replace them later, I gotta get out a wheel again!
Got a couple of buddies coming over next week, we're going to try to finish the rear, and get the front axle under the truck, and the gears set up. Once the front axle is in, all thats left is the steering, shock mounts, shocks, HD diff cover, beadlock centers, and put the interior and the bed on. should make it!

Thanks bro. Still a lot left to do. Good thing I've got plenty of time huh?
front and rear gears are done, front hanger is tacked in place, shackle holes are drilled, and springs are just about ready for mockup.
Interior will go back in tommorow, and front axle will be assembled in the near future, pending arrival of parts.
To do:
Move steering box
mount shock hoops
buy shocks
brakelines
reassemble front axle
purchase steering (links, TREs)
mount bed
fix exhaust
reassemble interior
buy front diff cover
paint (if time)
recenter H1s

Re: 3.0 killer
Got a lot of minor stuff taken care of yesterday, started reinstalling the interior, fixed my exhaust, ran my rear brake lines, bolted on the rear diff cover, and cut out the centers on my H1 wheels. Only thing I got pics of was cuttign out the H1 wheels.
Using a cutoff wheel is a PITA, but they turned out well.
Also got my shocks hoops,
IFS box relocation plates,
and my threaded steering ends.
Ordered my front diff cover, wheel centers, and rock rings from great lakes offroad.

Yeah, I've been wishing I had a plasma more than once this project.
I've used the cutoff wheel for everything, from cutting those wheel centers out to cutting off my IFS.

Re: 3.0 killer
My latest toys
Moved the PS box
painted my knuckles
Thats about all I got done today, bought some other small stuff I needed.
TREs and Ujoints are on the way, as are my wheel centers and rock rings. Should be here anytime so I can start putting the axle together.
Still working on the spring packs, I got them figured out, just need to get some spring clamps and new centerpins to put them together.

Re: 3.0 killer
yup!
Got a bunch of small stuff to pick up tuesday. Waiting on my ujoints, and I'll put the axle back together.
Got to finish putting the springs together, and will hopefully be hanging it this weekend/early next week. Got everything I need to finish it up either here or on the way!

Re: 3.0 killer
Got my u joints in, and the axles put back together
Also got my inserts cut for my beadlocks. 16" ID water pipe. Just need to grind a little off the inside of the rings. Almost perfect fit, and cost me 1/3 of what buying them from company that makes them for this application would have. $21 a foot (need about 28") and no shipping, cheapest I found anywhere else was $40 a piece, plus shipping.
and got my tie rods in
So far this build I've gotten parts from
4wdfactory.com (awesome service, good prices, great delivery speed) gears, ujoints
Marlincrawler (same) Steering box bracket
Poly Performance (little long to ship, but good prices and parts) DL flanges (came from High Angle and TREs (came from parts mike) rockcrusher diff cover
Ballistic Fabrication (good prices, good quality products, decent shipping times) tube bungs, steering arms
Extremeaxles.com (excellent prices, good delivery speed) SRW hubs
Greatlakeoffroad.com (Awesome guys to work with, can't wait to see the product) front diff cover, wheel centers, rock rings
rockbrawlers (4DEEs is getting me set up with brakelines, can't wait to get them)brakelines
Locally:
Protofab- awesome guys to deal with, great prices on their scrap bin stuff
Remarc- great prices, and really helpful
Summit- guys at the counter have gone out of their way to help me out.
Western Nevada Supply Company- got my wheel inserts from them

Re: 3.0 killer
Springs
3 toyota rear leafs, 3 chevy leafs. Nailed the height on the first try
Axle is done
buddy finish welding my hanger
rolling out
fits under the garage door by about an inch
Back in the garage, with bed on the frame
Have to:
mount bed
fill diffs with gear oil
brakes
connect driveshafts
steering
and it'll be driveable. I don't have a lot of room for my steering, so I'm not entirely sure how thats all going to work out. I don't have a lot of up travel room on the drivers side

Re: 3.0 killer
My springs aren't arched very much. I think I need to get some springs that have a bigger arch to them, and that'll move them away from my steering arm. Either that, or find a flat pitman arm.
