Re: tires wheel ??
what width tires are you running? Personally, I prefer running an 8" wide wheel with a 12.50 tire, gives the rim a bit more protection, seems to seal better and hold a bead better, and the tire starts to balloon much sooner when you air down, resulting in having to air down less.
I realize this is for a DD, and a pavement pounder for the most part, but thats the input I've got
No idea on the backspacing. What do you have on there now, and how wide are the tires? Check you're clearances as it sits now, and that'll give you an idea to shoot for.

Re: tires wheel ??
good idea I went to America tire company today. they tried to fit a 15x8 rim on my 2001 jeep.
It HIT THE CALIPER DAMN.
so back to square 2
16" rims or 17" sock is 17" might has well stay with that tire price not much diffrent between 16 and 17 for the same diamiter tires. :(
so if anyone ask on board
2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee 15" rims hit the brake caliper on my akkibono calipers. you could grind about 1" or more off the top they might fit but your loosing the fatest widest part of the floating caliper. so as a daily driver I am not taken that risk of braking the caliper in 1/2 and taken hours grinding and fitting just to run 15x8
it would be different if I was just clawing it or going 55mph but I plan to drive 65-80mph up to the snow.
thank you black dog for info. great idea.
