Need Chevy 1/2 ton master cylinder
My brakes SUCK!!!! I have researched the reasoning to be a master cylinder that doesn't throw enough fluid per brake stroke. Rockstomper makes an adapter that comes with a 1 ton MC, but i was hoping for a slightly smaller 1/2 ton MC... a gent who tested his rig with several MC's recommended the 1/2 ton.
I would like a 1/2 ton Chevy master cylinder with a bore size of 1 1/8". That coupled with my oem double diaphragm booster should enable me to stop on a dime once again. Anyone?

Re: Need Chevy 1/2 ton master cylinder
I think the 1/2 ton only comes in the 1 1/8th inch bore, the 1 ton comes in a 1 5/16ths bore. Also I spoke with the owner of Rockstomper and he says the 1/2 ton res is not meant to be mounted level as it would be in my case, so he recommends the 1 ton which is ok to mount level. So an option is the 1 ton and adapter from him for $95. Sky manufacturing has an adapter set up without the MC for $35, and says the res's are the same between the 1/2, 3/4 and 1 ton MC's the difference being the bore size of the cylinder.... more research necessary... GRRRRRR
Re: Need Chevy 1/2 ton master cylinder
Yeah, as far as I knowm the Gm M/C's are all at an angle. I do think they need to be at that angle. I have noticed if my truck is noes down hard then my brake pedal is super soft, but is fine at any other angle. I have a 14 bolt rear and a 60 up front and it doesn't move enough fluid to work the front brakes enough.. you might need a proportioning valve installed from the same vehicle as the M/C (Chebby 1/2 ton mc and proportioning valve) and it should be good.

Re: Need Chevy 1/2 ton master cylinder
Got the proportioning valve $35 from Summit a long time ago and is the only reason I haven't been swapping ends at every stop sign and light locking up the rears. I picked up a '76 1/2 ton mc for $30 (MUCH better than the $160 I had to pay for my stock Toy one that I now have to try and sell on e-bay) and the necessary fittings to swap it in. I should be able to put it in in an evening other than tonite (too many late nights working on a club logo 'till 2am... I'M TIRED!!!!) At what angle are they normally, say in your Blazer?? res end pointing up or down, sideways? Rockstomper did warn me that there is an issue with the 1/2 ton mc's but not the 1ton's... 'sup whit dat??? Sky-manufacturing said 1/2 ton 1 ton... doesn't matter, they both mount the same.
Re: Need Chevy 1/2 ton master cylinder
Yeah, don't know. I know that the 1/2 tons are res end up a little higher than the mount side. IIRC, all Chebby M/C's are angled..
