BEWARE OF HILLTOP GYM

I know of a trainer that new the owner of this gym in the L.A. area. He closed down a couple of gyms there without anyone's notice. He has closed one down in the roseville area. I just saw on the news tonight, that he closed one in elk grove,ca. He is bad buisness. He also signs people up with there account info and takes more out of there account then just the gym dues.

SACRAMENTO (CBS 13) ― A gym Kurtis Ming exposed for promising services and not delivering has now shut its doors. Now CBS 13 has learned the gym was taking customer's money, even after getting an eviction notice.

Angela Ramirez wants to know why Hilltop Gym on Walnut Avenue signed her up for a membership and took her money when gym workers knew they'd have to close these doors.

"I was told that in 120 days they would also be expanding into a racket ball, child care on site, lockers and showers," says Ramirez.

Angela since learned the gym had already received an eviction notice. How does she know that? She works next door for the man who owns the entire building.

She's just one of more than 25 hilltop customers who've contacted Kurtis, saying they can't get their money back.

Viewers say the gym promised services they never delivered from the day they opened their doors last year. We've heard of problems going beyond the Walnut Avenue location.

Lisa and Scott Wilson say Hilltop's sunrise location charged them monthly, even though they paid a year's membership up front. Tracy Pomodoro wanted a refund because the gym never offered child care. When the owner dodged her calls, she saw the writing on the wall.

A man named Christopher managed the Walnut Avenue gym. In silhouette he agreed to talk to Kurtis. He says the problems all have to do with the owner William Cering. He claims Cering knew customers were being wrongly charged. He says employee paychecks have bounced, and the gym's rent hasn't been paid for months. So how does the owner respond to the problems?

"He blows you off, I'll get back to you, and he never gets back to you, and that's with everybody," says Christopher.

CBS 13 spent a month and a half trying to track down the elusive William, leaving dozens of messages making surprise visits to the 4 gyms he owns, but he managed to outfox us every time.

We finally tracked down William Cering to a quiet cul-de-sac in Elk Grove. We knocked on the door. We heard dogs, we also heard people inside, but no one came to the door.

So Kurtis paid another surprise visit to Hilltop's original location on Elk Grove Boulevard. In his hunt he learned hilltop had a silent owner, Tom Ngyuyen who's in the bay area. Tom was shocked by the problems, saying he had no idea any of this was going on, until Kurtis called him. Tom has since told Kurtis, he too is struggling to get answers from William Cering. Expressing disappointment and concern, he promised to make things right, so we forwarded him the names of the more than 2 dozen viewers who called Kurtis.

But as business partners battle it out, customers are stuck getting the wrong kind of exercise - outside the gym, in the form of the runaround.
