Electrical woessss... Need HELP
Not 4x4 related but I have a 53' 241 red ram hemi converted from point to electronic dist ( basically the same conversion kit for ALL SB mopars ) . It uses a 12V coil and ballast.
I have replaced the coil, ballast, and checked all grounds.
Problem is that it will start up fine, run ok and then will just shut off. It is an electrical issue for sure. If it shuts off while I'm driving , I can turn the IGN switch to off and then on and it will fire right back up. This will happen at any speed and sometimes while sitting at idle.
Any thoughts

Re: Electrical woessss... Need HELP
did it just start doing this? or has it done it for a while? did you change anything up recently? are there any testing procedure for these distributors?

ellectrail problems in mopars
wow something I know a lot about for once.
step 1 check all wires to the balistet resister ?? is it a 4 pin or a 2 pin set up??
you can temperaly bypass the resistor also it will not hurt anything think of it more like a disturbution block.
I have a 4 pin on my dodge I keep a spare in the trunk hahaha
I had the same problem but I had to hold the key to keep it running then if I let go of the key it would shut off. then I could press the key forward start it and keep it running again. the trick was the basisit was new but the little wire had some corroseon on it china pets keep it from running.
then after that I had a new hot lead run strait from the ingtion switch to the balist not running thought the stock fuse box and never had a problem since but I am assumming your not runing a stock mopar fuse block?? maybe a painless kit??
hope this helps.
