KOH 2009
King of the Hammers 2009.
The event that starts the year off. It will be at the Hammers at Johnson Valley. Some of us are heading down on Wednesday Feb 25, 2009 and coming back on Sunday. The race is on Saturaday and will try to pick a couple spots to watch the action.

Yes... But the fires can be as big as you want it to be. 5 Gallon drums filled with gas in plastic container make a lot of black smoke. The wind is pretty bad during the day, so it is best to be on the trails.

Re: KOH 2009
Well, the schedule is out.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is registration and fun....
Thursday is the LCQ. Which is an event with some crazy number of rigs that want to be part of the KOH 2009. The race is some desert racing with back door as the main obstacle. I am not sure how many laps they have to do, but I will be camped out there to see the craziness.
Friday is the main event. Starts at 8AM and is finished when everyone crosses the finish line or breaks. The actual course will not be laid out until the day before. But one of the Zombies was down there for a day trip and saw many other competitors practicing. The LCQ will allow an additional 12 vehicles to the KOH.
I will take lots of pics as this event should be a blast.

Re: KOH 2009
Well, I have made my last preparations and getting my groceries together.
Looks like I will be there around 3PM on Wednesday.
Thursday - I will be at backdoor with a chair, beer, and a camera. Then get some wheeling in.
Friday - We have to be at the pit meeting at 6AM. Then head out to the first out of four pit stops. The race is suppose to be around 150 miles long.
Saturday - Wheel, Wheel, Wheel...
Sunday - Pack up and get home.
I will post all the pics or at least a link to the pics.
Go car #985.

No...
We wheeled mostly at night, except for Saturday. Resolution at night was fun. They have a new trail, "Full of Hate", looks crazy.

I ended wasting a wheel bearing, but I kept on wheeling til I got it back on the trailer. Pete had a bad roll over, but had him back on his wheels no time and moving forward. Added a few trails in the last couple of years.
Back door is all about wheel speed, V8 kind. I didn't see any 4 or 6 bangers make it. It was like revving your engine to 4K and dropping it into snd or 3rd gear and hoping you can clear the second ledge. Gave it a few tries and almost made it but I wasn't able to drop the hammer on the first night. I even saw a 502 ramjet with 54's get rejected.

Re: KOH 2009
Pete had no real carnage for once. A little tubing damage, smashed up my hood and my muffler but didn't break. I did spent too much time on my side and hydrolocked the motor on resolution, but it cleared out. Place is gnarly. my 38"s were too small for some obstacles and not enough horsepower in others. I had fun though

Saw and meet her. Pretty cool girl but has some attitude. Trying to showoff to much what she can do, instead of having fun. Just my impression though.
Also, Jason Shear who won the race built his buggy and donated to the FOE.
