COP: uh NO, your truck is higher than the center of your tire and you need MUD FLAPS
ME: do you mind if I get out of the truck so you can show me what your talking about 'cause Im confused
COP: no come on out just watch for traffic

COP then procedes to hold his flashlight at the center cap of my rim and tell me if the VEH. is higher than the center of the rim I need mud flaps
ME: realy 'cause I thought that as long as the entire tire is under the body of the truck thats its ok

he was for sure bustin your chops dave. But then when you were a cool guy about it he had no reason to pull you over. I think he just wanted to check out the cool truck.

Note taken about the mud flaps. That project just got bumped up on the list of to-do's. Sorry to hear about the mild harassment, tho.

If i had a dollar for every time I got pulled over for no reason just to see if I was drunk/stoned/tweaking/tripping I would have at least 20 bucks. Hell I have been pulled over 3 seperate times for my "license plate light not working" but each time they wouldnt let me see it, they ask a bunch of questions then when I dont admit to anything they let me go. dicks

I know there is a law on headlamp height being too high but I had never herd of a law on height versus hub.

that may be for the mud flap law, but DOT maybe CHP has legal height limits per GVW... Something like 29" for 1/2 ton, 30" for 3/4 ton and 31" for 1 Ton from the ground to the main frame runner section.. Last I checked was about 6 years ago, so it may be lower now... that's Cali for ya.. Plymouth Po-Po are sticklers for the mudflaps and fender flares.. My wife got a ticket for no mud flaps goin up HWY16 a little while back..

He was just looking for reasons to pull you over. Happened to me a couple of months ago on the way to my dads house. He said I was hugging the fog line to much. I responded with "I was trying to let the guy behind me with his bright lights pass" ie the cop. asked me if i had been drinking i said no, he let me go.
