Mormon Immigrant Trail..
Hello, A friend of mine said the CHP's were handing out tickets anyone on the Mormon Immigrant Trail after the closed road sign. He didn't have all the details, but the CHP's were out there standing and writing tickets.
Just more of a heads up. Also, if anyone knows why or how this could happen. Please post.

Re: Mormon Immigrant Trail..
I think you found an uninformed CHP officer. Snow play is allowed up there and quite common. In fact, there should be snow patrol (Cal4) folks up there advising people how to have fun on the snow on the Morman Emigrant (Iron Mountain) road.

You may want to print that out and carry it with you when you use Mormon Emigrant Trail.
Here's the relevant passage:
Approximately 20 miles of the MET, from Sly Park Road on the western Highway 50 end to the junction with Silver Fork Road, are open for wheeled motor vehicle over-the-snow travel. A snow berm will be placed on the MET at the Silver Fork junction so that vehicles cannot continue eastbound to Highway 88. From Highway 88, another snow berm will be constructed on the MET at the Iron Mountain Sno Park to control westbound travel during the winter.
The last five miles near 88, which was closed as a knee-jerk reaction to very rare user conflicts between OHVs and snowmobilers, following the Kim family tragedy up in Oregon. I believe the change was made as a result more of the latter than the former, but I question the validity of both.
