Thinking about selling the D-MAX Empty Thinking about selling the D-MAX

SMOG coming up on my d-max. I thought I woudn't be effected but they are retroing the law back 10 years.

I've been doing alot of research, made some calls, talked to some techs etc etc. Some key points

- no tuners
- no visual evidence that a tuner has been installed and removed i.e hole in roof and thermo couples installed or even plugged thermo couple holes.
- no aftermarket cats
- no bolted cats
- cat must retain factory welds
- NO SMOKE
- no OBDII Codes

- YEARLY Checks

Worst part is that this is pretty much a 100% visual inspection except for the OBDII check, which means it's 90% subjective

Yards wont sell used pipes with cats
Dealers want 1200.00 for a new pipe with cat

One of the main reasons I bought a diesel was so I didn't have to F with the SMOG every year. Now I got 500.00 Reg fee's, taxes, and now yearly SMOG BS.

Honestly, I'm thinking about selling it and buying a newer bagged gasser CC dually. Might even bank some coin on the deal

Dude, that sucks.

I can make some calls around here for the stock exhaust, or check some yards if you need me too.

Also, if you just need the piping, I've got an '06 dodge 3500 that has a stock welded cat on the pipe gap

My smog guys wouldn't notice the difference, all they do is a visual that a cat is there. (washoe county NV)

Thats bullshit about the tuners.

That suks, especially after all that work on the front axle. You can have monitors/gauges hooked up, just can't have a computer. Must have a cat, if applicable, and little to no smoke on a three step snap test. Atleast until the tuner companies acqire executive order numbers for their products. See if you can borrow or trade someones stock exhaust for yours, remove the computers, leave the gauges unless it is a digital monitor.
