My new horses!

Post by Red Leader on Sat Apr 26, 2008 7:09 am

Just bought this 3/4 ton 1976 Chevy last week. - Paid $800.00

Automatic trans with shift kit, 4 bolt 350 C.I.D. bored .030, Edelbrock intake, Holley 750 dual feed, Crane 268* cam, dual Flexlite fans, Dana44/14 bolt, NP305, 36" SSR's, 4.11 gears with Detroit "No Spin" rear... some other crap. I need to do a lot of minor stuff like re-routing some wires, patching a small leak in the radiator and fixing the gas gauge. Sumbitch runs excellent. One pump in the morning and it's fired up and ready to run!

My "Road Dog" Popeye.

Yeah, but the $5.00 a gallon gas kind of puts a ding in the whole "good deal" idea.

Yea but at only 800bucks for a good rig you could buy alot of gas even at 5 bucks a gallon before even touching any of the newer rigs!! Thats how I like to see it anyways!

if you would have gotten a decent fuel effecient car at lets say 5grand, you could drive 10000 miles at 5 dollars a gallon and at 10 mpg, that would be just to catch up to the price of the car, but if you had gotten 30 mpg in the car you would have spent another 1700 in fuel that can go into fuel in the truck, and without drawing it out forever which is another 334 gallons of gas for the beast or 3500 miles and your still ahead.

So long story short you could drive your truck for a long time to at 10 mpg and 5 bucks a galon to touch the price of a decent small car!

The suspension is 100% stock. He stiffened the frame and added a Nissan transfer case to it. He runs 31's on it.

I think it's more of a baby SUV. Very Happy

He wheels the crap out of this one. He buys the stub axles by lots of 25 @ $4.00 each.
