Tahoe National Forest Draft Environmental Impact Statement

Summary:

The largest issue facing Off Highway Vehicle enthusiasts in the Tahoe's DEIS is a complete winter closure. Nearly all 800,000 acres will be closed for 4 months, from January 1st to April 30th, every year! Additionally, the forest can (and will) be closed by “temporary order” until the trails are dry, and no resource damage can occur to the soil.

This includes the World famous Fordyce OHV Trail, home to California Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs Sierra Trek.

Other trails are covered in the sample paragraphs, such as Greenhorn OHV area, Red Mountain Trail and Rattlesnake Road. Others will be added as they are researched and comments are defined specifically for them.

Routes to Dispersed camping sites are also important to include in your letter.

Additionally, Tahoe National Forest is closing nearly ALL “user created routes”, giving us back only 30-70 miles out of 2500. That means we are losing over 2400 miles of routes!!!!!
