yea but the vin# doesnt represent a desail eng and I hate smog and I hate the dmv even more they will probley tell me that The truck need a part that you cant even get anymore for a disial like on the fuel gauge a one that says desial fuel only or some crap like that. my bro had the same problem with an older truck he put a new engine in it. he had to take it to the state board smog. he got Smarty raped.

plus it dont have a windsheld and its like a pick and pull tuck in his garge if he is missing something or need a spare he takes it off the red one. also I have to part my junk outside and my city is a bunch of wineers.....

has to look presentable and someone is going to stell that cat. hahaha

so if I have a desial it dont have a cat or if it dones I am taken it off dont need one anyway.

Jeremi, probably the only way you'll get a diesel conversion to be registered is if you green stickered the rig and towed it to the trail. OR you can just find a diesel toyota pickup Yes Look for an '81 toyota pickup... According to ALLDATA, some of them come with Diesels. They're probably few and far between though.

Jeremi, if you are into really really looking into it, Mark Lanthier, who built the "Willy Mammoth" ended up putting a toyota diesel in his Willys... here's his build up thread, and I believe the engine is probably well around page 70-100ish.

don't forget just the half truck he got costs between 4-6K depending on where you get it from. affraid And he had to order parts from Australia.

You're better off finding a diesel out of an isuzu pup or something, but the smog issue will be a headache. I'd just go with a FI toyota truck (22re) and maintain it well. They don't have any problem passing smog if you maintain them Good job
