Read & Unread or is it just my eyes?

It's a little difficult to tell if I have already read a topic or if there is a new post in a thread cause the "red" read & the "red" unread colors are too close of a match (at least for me). How about a green if the is a new post & red if there is nothing new or any other colors as long as they are not a close shade of the same color.

Could just be your eyes... what colors do you recommend? Maybe just grayed out for read?

I agree the reds are kinda close green for new sounds good to me.
