Re: Project RAIDER X
Some pics of the swap... Little more labor intensive than we thought it would be, since we were fighting multiple problems with these spirngs..
1. frenched hangers ( reducing lift )
2. didnt want to run blocks ( reducing even more lift )
3. front hangers would have had to been loacted in the body mount and rear x-memebr to retain stock wheelbase ( so we extened it )
4. had to drop the aftermarket EXTRA capacity fuel tank ( full of fuel )
5. Ran out of 2x3 for the rear x-member, so we had to splice two small pieces together ( just time consuming )
6. drank a few too many beers
As matt mentioned we ran through two different versions of rear mounts and ended up settling on the ones posted here. We like em because they build all the lift back into the frame and allow for a 108" WB before going to rears up front. Matt has enough room up front to gain another 2-3 " of WB until he needs to move the box into the body mounts.. Ultimatley this rig could get to around 112-113" if the box got moved forward a few more inches. I think 114-116 is the magic number with 37's and up so rolling on 35's anywhere between 108 -112 should be perfect
I didnt get any pics of the rig with everything installed, but the shackles sit at 30* with my big butt sitting in the bed. Unloaded the rig sits a few inches tall in the rear, but we designed the rear hangers for this. The rig will sit level when fully loaded for camping.
I'm sure matt will post some pics of it sitting on a flat surface.
